Autodrome First Race
1/12/2004 : Some of the most unique and iconic developments that have changed the face of Dubai drew the attention of racing fans and other distinguished visitors to the first ever Super Racing Weekend series held in the region from October 6 - 8, 2004 at Dubai Autodrome.
The event, which is the final leg of the Super Racing Weekends Calendar in 2004, saw more than 100 drivers from the international racing circuit and hundreds of important guests from all around the world in attendance.
Wahid Attalla, Executive Director, Commercial and Operations, Nakheel, a company which has built much of the landmark buildings, said: ´The Middle East region is fast growing to be the leading destination for international motor sports events, including the Formula One and the UAE Rally Championships owing to the challenging circuits including a veritable mix of track surfaces and outstanding race support infrastructure.
The Super Racing Weekend has added another feather to the growing bouquet to motor sports events that are held in the Middle East and has established Dubai´s position in the international motor sports event calendar. Nakheel is proud to be associated with this event as it forms part of our central strategy to promoting art, cultural and sporting events in the emirate.´
Like many companies, as a part of the promotions during the event, Nakheel is undertaking the branding of sites in and around the Autodrome including the racetrack, which gave an opportunity to the hundreds of thousands of race fans to get a feel of the Nakheel projects that have rewritten the rules of property development in the region.
A hospitality chalet is purpose built in the ´Corporate Club´ at the Dubai Autodrome, where corporate clients and guests of companies involved in the Autodrome are entertained during the event.
The Dubai Autodrome hosts a world-class 5.35 kilometre Grade 1 racetrack and an air-conditioned 3,000 square metre indoor course along with a fully equipped media centre and a control tower. The Autodrome is a part of the recently launched US $ 5 billion Dubailand project.
The launch of the Dubai Autodrome will witness under the auspices of H.H. Sheikh Mohammed Bin Rashid Al Maktoum, the final leg that will conclude the championship of one of the biggest motor sport events - The LG Super Racing Weekend.
